Vineyard Wine Bar Honored By Industry Magazine

The walls inside The Vineyard Wine Bar will have a new decoration soon.
An 11-by-14 framed proclamation from The Wine Spectator will recognize the bar "for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world," Vineyard's Joe Lertch said Friday afternoon.
Lertch said the magazine is "a mega force" in the wine industry, and will recognize the Havre de Grace establishment in an upcoming annual restaurant awards publication.
"We're just so proud," Lertch told Patch Friday.
He said the certificate came in the mail Thursday.
The Vineyard is located at the corner of Washington Street and Pennington Avenue in Havre de Grace's downtown arts & entertainment district.
The establishment has a lunch menu and a dinner menu, as well as a specialty store located across Pennington Avenue.
In an email to Havre de Grace businesses Friday, Lertch and his staff said: "Please stop in, see our award, and celebrate with us."

I would point out that in the four years since the hoax was perpetuated, the magazine has upgraded their efforts to verify entries and continues to evaluate a restaurant's wine program, not individual wines. My husband and I just celebrated my birthday at The Vineyard on Friday night and not only enjoyed several glasses of very good and unique wines, but excellence service and a fabulous meal. I was even treated to a glass of champagne in honor of my own fine "aging." ;-)
With an abundance of chain restaurants in the county, a place like The Vineyard is a welcome change and a wonderful addition to the tapestry in Havre de Grace.
