VIDEO: This One Is For Sgt. Gonzalez
Daniel Gonzalez was honored Monday. His dad remains overseas.
For a number of reasons, I don't often film inside City Hall's council chambers.
But Monday, I felt a duty to do so—a young man was being honored and his father wasn't able to attend. Daniel Gonzalez's dad is in Afghanistan.
Sgt. 1st Class Danny Gonzalez, 33, departed for Afghanistan last spring. At home in Havre de Grace is his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children.
His youngest, Daniel, was honored as Meadowvale Elementary School's student of the month during Monday's City Council meeting.
See the video with this post to capture Mayor Wayne Dougherty reading the recognition to Daniel.
Gonzalez shared photos recently of a Susquehanna Hose Company flag flying in Afghanistan.
He is scheduled to return home in June.

Daniel is a stand up member of the community and a strong leader. He's a great role model in his school. More kids should follow his lead!
