Did you encounter the Occupy marchers Thursday or Friday?

The group left Havre de Grace Friday, planning to march through Aberdeen and set up Friday night camp between Joppatowne and White Marsh.

While some make valid points, most of these people of far left loons and morons in search of a mission. To make matters really ugly, they are being duped by union stooges and political pranksters. Only in America!

Perhaps when they get to Washington, D.C. they will occupy a job.

Is better to voice an opinion or stay in the back ground and do nothing

So many misguided people. God bless the marchers for doing what we ALL want to do with them but can not. Go to Washington. Make our point especially to those lost souls who want to bury their heads in the sand. Protesting has done many wonderful things for our country - the original tea party chased our England's taxation - black rights - women's rights - the end of the Vietnam War === yes the list goes on......thanks to all the wonderfully brave walkers and those who stepped up to assist in the quest to spread the message that we have had enough of the greed in DC, NY, and all across this country.

Sean, thanks for putting this up. These folks were wonderful to talk to. Anyone who thinks that they're bums looking for a handout is seriously misinformed. I'm ashamed at some of the vitriol that has been posted on Patch about this (even in this thread). If people feel that strongly, why didn't they avail themselves of the opportunity to meet these folks and see who they really are? There's a lot more courage in that band of marchers than there is in any of the people hiding behind keyboards.
No, I don't agree with everything they say, and yes, I think they are naive and idealistic. But these are the people who change the world.

They are the Bonus Army of our generation.

I would like to acknowledge "responsible postings" by folks on this subject who remove personal emotion from their comments and try to take a 30,000 ft. view. Unfortunately, depending on what side of the political fence you sit upon, our opinions are too often offered through the idealogical prism we have chosen. Journalists, too often, are guilty of this as well, disguising "editorial" as "reporting".
I happen to know one of the "occupiers" who are marching and they are very conscientious and passionate about their cause. It doesn't matter whether I disagree with them or not. As long as they are expressing themselves in a manner that garners respect and credibility to their cause we shouldn't launch any type of vitriol towards them. Likewise, the movement called the "TEA Party" should be afforded the same respect and admiration. The attempts by so many who do not agree with them politically to disparage that movement through lies and vitriol should be criticized equally.
As Tom said earlier about the occupiers, both movements can be seen as "Bonus Armies". For each, I will leave the matter of credibility, effectiveness, and intellectual honesty to other pundits or a backyard discussion.
For now I would just encourage everyone who posts on these matters to do so in a manner that is respectful, and more importantly, do so even when you don't happen to agree with the tenor, purpose or editorial leanings of the article or editorial at hand.

Thank you, Tom. Most appreciated. You, more so than many others in our community, "raise the bar" on the local blogosphere.

I think that I may have seen them in Baltimore early this morning. There was a small tent city at the inner harbor.
