Tydings Bridge Maintenance Work Planned for Weekend
Expect construction and truck traffic, the Maryland Transportation Authority advises.
Traffic and noise may increase around the Millard E. Tydings Memorial Bridge this weekend, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA).
Foundation repair work is scheduled between 6 a.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday along John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway/Interstate 95 in the area of Tydings Bridge, the MDTA stated in a press release.
Additional truck traffic and noise may result as the maintenance, which includes pouring concrete, gets underway.
In the event of inclement weather, the work will take place Feb. 16 and 17.
Maintaining the concrete piers and underwater bridge supports of the Tydings Bridge is part of a larger preservation project the MDTA is undertaking to ensure the structural integrity of the bridge piers.
The nearly $43 million project should be complete by late 2013, according to the MDTA.
