Shop in Havre de Grace for Small Business Saturday

Start your holiday shopping during Nov. 24 event.

Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses within their communities.

American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked.

“The goal of Small Business Saturday is to remind everyone to think local first," Brigitte Peters, marketing and tourism manager for the City of Havre de Grace, said in a prepared statement.

“Think about all the wonderful unique shopping, dining and extended stays that can be created in Havre de Grace," Peters said. "We live in a community that is a richly rewarding destination."

Last year, 100 million people nationwide participated in Small Business Saturday by shopping at locally owned stores to help boost the economy and their communities.

Here's a list of Havre de Grace businesses, courtesy of the city's office of economic development.

I love Joseph's Department Store! The selection is great and much of the stock is "made in the USA!" What could be better??
