How do you encapsulate more than 12,000 training hours and more than 600 calls for service in a calendar year?

Quite simply: you can't.

But Saturday, the Susquehanna Hose Company held its awards banquet for 2011, looking back on the year that was for Havre de Grace's five-house volunteer fire department.

See the 2011 SHCO video here.

Ron Cardwell, Captain at House 1, was named Susquehanna Hose Company Firefighter of the Year and Sam Cubberly, Safety Officer at House 5, was named The Record Firefighter of the Year.

Elaine Burchette was recognized for her outstanding training efforts in the last 18 months with the inaugural Eugene Burchette Award—named in honor of her late fiance, who died in 2010.
