Seafood Festival Announces 2012 Musical Act

The festival in August will open with a major concert for a second straight year.

The Havre de Grace Seafood Festival in August will open with a major musical act for a second straight year, organizers announced at the Havre de Grace City Council meeting Monday.

A year after the Charlie Daniels Band performed at Tydings Park, the 2012 festival will kick off with the Marshall Tucker Band, including an opening performance by former Bad Company lead singer Brian Howe. The Baltimore School of Rock—a group of performers ages 7 to 18—will also perform.

Tickets can be purchased online, event organizer Lori Maslin said.

Havre de Grace City Council President Bill Martin announced the performers to a sparse audience at City Hall Monday by offering a few of the titles from songs by the Marshall Tucker Band and Bad Company.

About this August's concert to open the festival, Martin added: "That night was the greatest night of my entire year in Havre de Grace. The greatest thing about the concert, we walked to it. It was in my own town. ... I wish you the best and I support you."

The festival will be held the weekend of Aug. 10-12, with the concert being held at Tydings Park at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 10.
