Reports: Walling Leaving, Reynolds Returning

Administration is set to change at Havre de Grace High School for 2012-2013.

The administration at Havre de Grace High School will be changing following this school year.

According to multiple reports, former Havre de Grace High School assistant principal Jim Reynolds will return to the school to become principal, replacing Pat Walling, who is headed to John Archer School in Bel Air.

Reynolds is currently an assistant principal at Bel Air High School.

The news was first reported by Explore Harford and The Dagger.

The changes would be effective July 1, 2012, pending ratification by the Board of Education at its June 11 meeting.

According to a chart posted by The Dagger, Reynolds would be the only new principal in Harford County's high schools if the proposed changes are approved.

Havre de Grace Middle School would have a new assistant principal under the plan, too. Micah Humbert is listed as a potential new assistant principal at the school. Current Havre de Grace Middle School assistant principal James Johnson would transfer to Magnolia Middle School.

Thats just not nice Sharon...I am sure there are people that have their own feelings on both the out going and incoming admin at HHS....I hope that both Mr. Reynolds and Mrs.Walling enjou their new adventures in education and the students continue to thrive under their appointments....Maybe some people should really try to understand what the role of a PRINCIPAL is before they judge their duties performed.....Good luck Mrs Walling and Welcome Mr. Reynolds

Yes you are hearing this in 2012! I hope that Mr. Reynolds is qualified and up to the task of taking HHS to a higher standard. His anatomy will not make him successful in his position, but I have not been impressed with the current administration. Boys need men as role models.

Could not agree more Barbara...Mr.Reynolds is a very qualified person for the job and I do not believe his anatomy is what makes him the admin he is. I believe as with every other admin.he went to years of school and has had alot of "FIELD SERVICE" if u will and is VERY prepared to meet the challenges that await him at HHS.

Mr. Reynolds will do an awesome job. Welcome aboard.

For those who do not like my comment about the current administration, deal with it. Until you have dealt with those incompetent people and have heard, and continue to hear, the horror stories of how our children are treated there, you have no leg to stand on. Our school couldn't be getting a better person for the job, whether male or female. It's about time that we get someone in there that is impartial and fair so that our children have a fighting chance to survive and advance in life (Mr. Carr excluded).

Carole - I'm hoping she is on her way out of anything that has to do with children. Until you can be fair and impartial, you do not need to be around our children.

Did I miss something here??!! I love how as parents your supposed to be setting good examples for your kids, but yet your trash talking people in leadership roles, and bickering with each other. Real great examples. I graduated under Mrs Walling she was a fine principle, people need to look at both sides of the situation. She can only do what she can with what shes handed. I also was there during Mr Reynolds time and wish him the best of luck at his return to HHS.

Having actually *worked* at building a relationship with the current administration, I will miss Ms. Walling. Is she perfect? No, she is not. But she tries and she does what she is able.

For those that want to put down the administrators - go do the job. Deal with Tomback and his cronies for a bit and see what they put our Principals through, then deal with parents who just want to fight and accept NO responsibility that their kid is in need of discipline, and THEN deal with some the actual behavior of those same unruly kids. Perhaps if parents spent more time taking responsibility and raising their kids, accepting that their kids have faults and make mistakes - and adjusting their behavior at home! - instead of pinning it on admin... maybe THEN we will have Principals who aren't scrambling to move heaven and earth just get to 2pm and can do the job more effectively. Until then, no matter who the Principal is, it will be all about the bad students and parents while the good students and families will take a backseat.
