Jane Adams' dog Java has been missing since last month.

After assisting Del. Mary-Dulany James to reunite with her dog over the weekend, Patch has been asked to lend a hand to another local pet owner.

Jane Adams' dog, Java, has been missing since December. She put out an alert to about 2,000 Havre de Grace homes on Christmas Eve, but Java is still missing.

So Jane posted an announcement on Patch in hopes that our readers can help bring her beloved pup home.

Check out the announcement on her missing dog.

Have you seen Java? Have a tip? Leave a comment on the announcement above or in the comments below.

OH, no! Jane and Java are my neighbors - this is terrible! I'm so sorry, Jane. I'll do everything I can to help.

Jane, I've met you and Java at the Farmer's Market and around town. I walk my dog Gracie alot around town and I will be on the look out. Your dog is very distinctive in color and size. I grieve for you and will spread the word. If you have a spare flyer with a picture - please drop one by Curves in the Harbor Shops Plaza and I will post it at the club for you.

This is so sad, I hope Java is found safe soon but sadly this seems like yet another lost dog case that could have been avoided if the owners were following the leash law.

This is right from the Harford County written laws regarding leashes.

b.) Or within the traveled portion of any public road and not leashed or under the control of the owner and obedient to the owner's command.

Of note it reads "or under the control of the owner and obedient to the owner's command". There is no law saying your dog must be on a leash; just that your dog needs to be obedient to your commands; it's an either/or. If this dog were stolen as the owner believes any comment regarding "following the leash laws" is a mistaken assumption with no basis in fact.

I stand corrected on that but if the dog was out of eye sight which I'm assuming he was because she didn't actually see him getting stolen then it was not under her control. Again it's very sad, I have a dog and would be beside myself if something happened to him and I do hope she is returned safely but it seems totally preventable.

@alicia....Dogs aren't like children, or adults, obeying every command. Java is a friendly dog, unfortunately probably to friendly. Not prone to attack other dogs or people. I see no reason why Java should have been leashed. Like humans sometimes do, if Java was stolen, he fell prey to an alluring incentive I'm sure. Just because you can’t control your dog, as revealed by your comments, is no reason to try and lay the blame on Jane not having a leash on her well-behaved dog. I sincerely hope Jane gets Java back!

What part of my comments "revealed" I cant control my dog? First of all my dog is 12 pounds and easily controlled, second when we are out around town he is leashed for his own safety. Just because you might be a responsible pet owner or a nice person that doesn't mean everyone is. When I first moved to town he was attacked on his leash by a dog left to roam by his owner. And I'm not sure why you feel I was accusing Java of being a badly behaved dog, I'm sure she is a sweet dog and if you go back to read my comments I said more then once I feel bad for the owner and hope she is returned safely. I never once said anything bad or derogatory about the owner or her dog or made any mean comment. I was merely stating my opinion which I am entitled to do.

I said nothing derogatory of the owner or the pet, you are the one that got a little nasty. So maybe you should get down from your high horse and practice what you preach. I'm going to take the high rode here and discontinue this childish back and forth. And like I have said since my very first post I hope the dog is returned soon.

@alicia...you kicked Jane when she was down by commenting she should have had her dog on a leash thereby implying it was her fault java is missing. ...cruel...as for practicing what I preach...I'm just reflecting your attitude.
