No Shirts. No Pants. No Problems.
Naturists plan to visit Camp Ramblewood in Darlington this weekend in hopes of setting a naked hula hoop record.
There’s a skinny-dip planned.
No rules necessary.
Then there is the naked hula hoop.
Walter Green III said there is only one rule there: “I guess you could say BYOH—bring your own hoop.”
Green is a member of the Maryland Area Naturist Association, which will join with the Chesapeake Pagan Community to co-sponsor the annual gathering at Camp Ramblewood in Darlington this weekend.
The hula hoop event will be held in conjunction with other organizations nationwide in an attempt to set a world record.
But more than simply setting a record, this weekend at the camp, located off Silver Road in Darlington, will be about freedom.
Freedom to walk, swim and play games—naked.
“We all would love to be able to walk around outside our houses and not have problems from our neighbors,” Green said. “Most of us can’t do that unless we have an 8-foot privacy fence.”
Green is a naturist, which is different than a nudist.
According to the Maryland Area Naturist Association website, a nudist is someone who simply enjoys being naked. A naturist is someone who enjoys being naked as part of a greater “healthy lifestyle that includes vegetarianism, no smoking, no drinking, and regular exercise, embracing the benefits of nature.”
“The organization is well-accepted at Ramblewood,” Green said. “They have all kinds of events up there similar to ours, and some of them not, of course. They’re not very prejudicial up here.”
This weekend, Ramblewood becomes home for people who wish they could live all every day as they will these three.
“Once I show up there, I don’t have to worry about a change of clothes from then on out,” Green said. “I can relax, have fun, do whatever I want.”
This year’s pre-registration had doubled as of last week.
Green said that there are misconceptions about such camps. He and his fellow naturists don’t spend their time in a nudist colony. They’re normal folks.
Green drives a taxi. He lives in a small home with someone who is not a naturist.
“I have a roommate and my roommate is very familiar with the fact that I’m a naturist, and she doesn’t mind that I walk around with nothing on,” he said. “She’s been to a few events. She said, ‘This is interesting, I want to give it a try.’ I wouldn’t say she’s a naturist. Maybe what I’d call a part-time naturist.”
Online registration is closed but anyone interested in joining can pay at the gate, which is $5 more than regular prices. (A price chart can be found by clicking "prices" here.)
Green said the group is always looking for more activities. This year, he said, they’re considering a water balloon battle.
“We’re not wearing anything,” he said. “So we don’t have to worry about getting our clothes wet.”

As I read this article, I find it amusing to read their web site’s "understanding" page, It's funny because they state they are not prejudice, yet in the same paragraph they state: "everyday world of conformity and self-repression"
“Self-repression” sure sounds like a judgmental statement to me.
I personally enjoy dressing up in my fun & fashionable clothing. I’m not self-repressed. And as a bonus! I’m also doing everyone a favor by covering my body with clothes.

I went all over their web site and could not find the phrase "everyday world of conformity and self-repression". Considering you didn't quote the whole paragraph I am sure you are misquoting it. In addition to that the fact you beleive that You are doing Everyone a favour by covering your body is exactly what self-repression is. Nudist don't go nude for the sake of other people. They go nude bcause it feels natural. It is invigorating and releives the stress of the textile world. For the right occasion some Nudists enjoy dressing up too but they also realize that clothing is not necessary for every day or occasion.

Righteous2Bare:
The second paragraph on this page:
http://www.ramblewood.com/understanding.html
Unless they update it, it says this:
"Expression
People should be free to express themselves in whatever ways they choose, without fear or prejudice, so long as it does not harm anyone.
Ramblewood's unique environment can allow people to express themselves in ways that are not normally possible in the "outside" world.
For many of our guests, the hardest part of their stay is when they have to leave, returning to the everyday world of conformity and self-repression. "

It doesn't say they are judging does it. It says "people should be free to express themselves in whatever ways they choose, without fear or prejudice, so long as it does not harm anyone." It is a fact not a judgement that people can not do that in society outside of places such as Ramblewood. It's funny how you only took part of the entire beleif statement out of context instead of includingthe entire passage.

What a joy to skinny-dip,
Bear as one can be,
Water felt on all my skin
As it washes over me.
To feel warming rays all over,
Lying in the sun,
Remembering to rotate when
One side enough is done.
Naturist looks like you and I and come from all walks of life. You will find it to be a relaxing lifestyle that is free of the daily stress we all experience. Naturist groups like http://www.truenudist.net are looking for people who are open minded and want to enjoy the company of others of a like mind.

Seriously as a mother I can not see how children should be excluded. In an age where five year olds have eating disorders and body image disorders I should hope parents are not teaching them shame of their bodies. Secondly I hate when people take comments out of context, the webpage is saying that judgmental people like y'all tend to make open minded people feel repressed

No, there are no laws against children seeing nude bodies in a nonsexual context, because nudity is OUR NATURAL STATE AS HUMAN BEINGS!!! We're born naked, for Godssake! Sorry to get so worked up about this, but nudity and sexuality are two COMPLETELY different things! There's nothing dirty or shameful about the naked human form; we should be celebrating our wonderful bodies, and teaching our children to celebrate theirs, for all the miraculous things they can do!

@ Scott Price...there was a small thing I noticed about your first comment. I misunderstood it also the first time I read it...ONLY because the previous comment from another person (which I must guess that you were replying to) was deleted. Most likely by its originator shortly after you mad your rebuttal, thus throwing everyone else off. I agree whole heartedly with you. We here at ANFA have alot of kids in all age groups and they are less sexually curious than most of the other kids they go to school with.
