New E-ZPass Only Lane Opens On Hatem Bridge
An E-ZPass lane has replaced an AVI decal lane on the bridge carrying U.S. Route 40 over the Susquehanna River.
The Maryland Transportation Authority has changed lanes.
The MdTA converted Lane 4 at the Hatem Bridge toll plaza from a AVI decal-only lane to one solely for E-ZPass use.
Lanes 1 and 2, closest to the right, accept cash, E-ZPass and AVI decals. Lanes 3 and 4 are for E-ZPass only, and Lane 5, furthest left, accepts decals only.
AVI decals will be sold through the end of August, at which point sales will stop. AVI decal usage will en on Sept. 30, when the full conversion to E-ZPass takes place.
The transition from decal to transponder began about a year ago, with the transponders going into use on the bridge earlier this year.
Motorists may sign up for E-ZPass online, or visit the JFK or Hatem Bridge stop-in centers.

If I already have a commuter EZPass for I-95 bridge, will the same transponder work for the Hatem Bridge? Or must I have a separate one on my windshield?

As long as it is a Maryland issued E-ZPass you can add plan B for the Hatem Bridge.
Plan A is a transponder that will work only on the Hatem Bridge and plan B is the addition of the one time charge for unlimited use on the Hatem Bridge, on a regular transponder. Hope that answered your question.
