New Business Opens In Time For July First Friday
Glyph Art + Design opens at the former location of Island Jack on Washington Street.
A new business is set to open today in Havre de Grace.
Glyph Art + Design will open at 101B Washington Street—the former location of Island Jack—in time for July's First Friday celebration.
According to Havre de Grace Main Street, Glyph Art + Design features "cards, stationery and gifts" as well as "custom letterpress invitations and announcements."
For First Friday, the shop will feature demonstrations by woodcut artist Patrick Sargent and Glyph creative director Don Starr, who will show how to operate a letterpress throughout the night.
Glyph will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. for First Friday, according to its website.
The site indicates the shop will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays from noon to 5 p.m., and by appointment only on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Starr is listed as creative director and Joseph Smith, a Havre de Grace City Councilman, is listed as the Chief Financial Officer for Glyph on the company website.

I visited the store for First Friday and was so sad I didn't bring any money. I love graphic arts and typography! I really hope the new store goes well, its a good addition~
