Main Street's Mob The Merchant Debuts at Goll's

Havre de Grace Main Street launches a new initiative aimed at boosting small business.

Flash mobs are a sight to see.

For the owner of a small business, a cash mob would be even better.

Havre de Grace Main Street is launching a new initiative Saturday at one of the city's older businesses that will aim to drive a high volume of traffic in a short period of time.

The first "Mob The Merchant" event is set for 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday at Goll's Bakery at 234 N. Washington St.

Grab your friends and load up on baked goods from the city's long-time bakery.

According to a flyer from Main Street, the organization "invites all residents and members to shop as a "mob" to support local merchants! The idea is to join together at a specified time and flood into a designated place of business."

On June 2, Java By The Bay is the targeted business for a "Mob The Merchant" event.

Toe nominate a downtown business, contact Matt Kriegl with Havre de Grace Main Street at 410-939-1811.

TELL US: What's your favorite item at Goll's Bakery? What other business should the Main Street "Mob The Merchant" program support? Leave a comment.

I'd love to try this bakery! But why a morning event? I notice more people coming out in the early to mid afternoon.

For my whole life I have gone to Goll's Bakery. I don't know how you can say a favorite item. All of there items a well prepared with a home made family secret that only the Goll family has. Their bakery is one of but a very few businesses that has lasted so many years. I love eating all of their products but if I must pick the things I enjoy the most it would be the cream puffs and the Goll family.
