Lewis Lane Roadwork To Begin July 16
The project was delayed from a planned spring start date.
A project to resurface Lewis Lane between U.S. Route 40 and the CSX train tracks is set to begin July 16.
Larry Parks, director of Havre de Grace's department of public works, said Monday the city would begin notifying residents of impacted communities that traffic would be closed from the Havre de Hills neighborhood to U.S. Route 40 (Pulaski Highway).
An April announcement indicated road work would begin by the end of April, and traffic patterns on roads in the Grace Manor neighborhood would be altered.
Plans to change those traffic patterns were scrapped, Explore Harford recently reported.
At the time of the announcement in April, the road work was scheduled to take approximately two months.

At least we get a two month break from all the excess front yard traffic before the potential increase in already heavy traffic due to the tracks being smother and more people taking the option as their first choice! Now if only that closure would stay permanent! ;) A person can dream right?

Again get over it. There is going to be traffic no matter what. If you dont like it move rot a dead end street. I have lived in my house for over 36 years and becasue Havre de Grace wanted to build up the area and build townhomes it now takes me 10 minutes just to pull out of my driveway, and it has been something we have just had to get over... so you need to do the same.

@ KD - If that closure were to stay permanent then you would never get out onto Chapel Road. Can you imagine what a cluster (you know what) we would have then.

Traffic is already a nightmare now trying to get onto Ohio Street from Ontario Street/ Chapel Road now with the flow of traffic coming off Rt.155 in the afternoons and on weekends. We have had numerious accidents there as it is already. HdeG Police have had units sitting at 7-11 monitoring traffic on and off over the past several months. A sign " Dont block intersection" was installed but, its still a bad intersection. Then put a train at the CSX tracks , and its even worse. I wish they would have just postponed the project until the Fall . Everyone, please plan ahead . Maybe use Canvasback Drive or Tydings Road as an alternative route. If you have to use Ontario Street/ Chapel Road down to Ohio Street to access Rt.40 , Dont pass cars appearing to turn right to cross over Ohio Street. It is totally unsafe. Your visability as well as any car coming up Ohio Street is limited. Plan ahead , be patient , but more importantly, BE SAFE !!

And please remember to drive SLOWLY through whatever neighborhood you drive through and make complete stops at the stop signs. It wouldn't hurt to have some HdG police cars helping with enforcement on Canvasback and Tydings while this work is ongoing.

@ CB & sef,
Yeah, good points! It could be worse and probably will as more developments continue! I didn't say I thought it thru, but it sure looks good in my imagination! Lol! Had I known traffic was the way it was, I wouldn't have bought here, but as you said, could be worse. Thanks for the points! We are all in this together, one way or another! Everyone have a good weekend!
