Kinyua Indicted On Murder In Joppa Cannibalism
Alexander Kinyua, 21, was indicted Tuesday on first-degree murder and assault charges.
The Joppa man charged with murdering and eating parts of his roomate was indicted Tuesday on charges stemming from the incident.
Alexander Kinyua, 21, had already admitted to killing Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, 37, before eating his heart and part of his brain.
Tuesday, a Harford County grand jury indicted Kinyua, charging him with one count of first-degree murder and one count of carrying a weapon with the intent to injure, according to a news release from the office of State's Attorney Joseph I. Cassilly.
Kinyua was transferred to Clifton Perkins Hospital, per Judge Susan Hazlett's orders, according to the statement from the state's attorney.
Kinyua's attorney initially requested a competency evaluation before the indictment was handed down.
The murder took place in late May, before a gruesome discovery of a severed head and hands by Kinyua's younger brother. Agyei-Kodie had been reported missing just days earlier.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but an indictment is handed up, not down.
