The IronBirds open the 2012 season Monday night at Hudson Valley.

They won't open the home schedule at Ripken Stadium until Wednesday.

The roster includes eight players drafted earlier this month. Another 11 players on the roster appeared with the IronBirds last season.

The youngest: 19-year-old outfielder Roderick Bernadina. The oldest: injured 26-year-old pitcher Oscar Melendez.

The tallest: 6-foot-7 first baseman Joe Vellegia. The shortest: 5-foot-8 pitcher Jose Mota.

Three are from Maryland: rookie pitcher Sander Beck and infielders Tom Winegardner and Velleggia.
