Havre de Grace Appears in House of Cards
The first original Netflix series filmed in Havre de Grace.

Viewers have been tuning into House of Cards on Netflix, and that means they've been seeing Havre de Grace undercover.
As of mid-February, Tech Crunch reported that House of Cards was the most watched show on Netflix.
Much of the political drama, released exclusively on Netflix Feb. 1, was filmed in Harford County.
Specifically, Havre de Grace was used for scenes of Gaffney, SC, the hometown of the show's main character, U.S. House Majority Whip Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey.
House of Cards gives viewers a glimpse into the underbelly of Washington politics. In one of the series' 13 episodes, Underwood must travel from Washington to Gaffney to ensure a giant peach doesn't foil his political aspirations.
Spacey was on set in Havre de Grace when Patch spotted him at the Union Avenue opera house last June.
House of Cards also filmed at a farm near Level on MD Route 155 and at two Webster Village homes on U Way.
An old Macy's distribution center in Joppa provided 300,000 square feet for creating sets to shoot scenes like the House of Congress and hotel rooms, according to IMDB.
With the production crew based out of Joppa, filming in Havre de Grace "made sense," one producer told The Aegis.
The show dropped $150 million in Harford County, according to County Executive David Craig.
"I tell people the Oval Office is really located in Harford County, about ten minutes from my house," Craig said in a recent podcast of the political show Inside Out. "They said it's Washington, D.C., but I know it's Harford County."
Added Craig: "Great show."

Get past the first episode and a half (as the introduce the backstory and characters) and you will be engrossed in the plot and subplots. The characters are rich, the sets and locations are great, and the actors fantastic. Mr. Spacey is perfect in his leading role. Of course, seeing friends of mine in the show and our town represented (tho "undercover") just adds to the intrigue and fascination. Can't wait for season two!
