Approximately 75 people turned out for the Havre de Grace Veterans Day ceremony, hosted by the American Legion Post #47 at Tydings Park.
Havre de Grace Mayor Wayne Dougherty was the keynote speaker after the veteran scheduled to speak had a family emergency.
“Family first,” Dougherty said in his remarks, which focused on how veterans are part of creating a greater whole.
“Our life has been shaped by each and every veteran,” Dougherty said. "Those we honor today, those who serve the country, they are our real heroes. These are the hidden heroes of a peaceful nation."
