UPDATED: Man Stabbed on Union Avenue
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Bourbon Street.
UPDATED (2:25 p.m.)—A Havre de Grace man remains in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center after being stabbed downtown early Wednesday.
Havre de Grace police responded to the intersection of Union Avenue and Bourbon Street at around 2 a.m. to find Jamar Terell Niles Coleman, 22, of the 400 block of Battery Drive. Niles had suffered a stab wound to his neck and multiple cuts on his arm, according to a spokesman.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Coleman remained in critical condition after undergoing surgery, according to police.
Havre de Grace police officer Jeff Gilpin said officers recovered evidence and have a potential lead, but have not identified any suspects.
The incident is believed to be isolated, police said, and not related to the stabbing that took place at an apartment on Warren Street Sept. 16.

Well I guess my question is are these "RANDOM" acts of violence or are they both act of violence towards an aquaintenance?Drug related?Should the citizens of Hdg who enjoy the eve. walks around town in the eve now that the heat is not an issue be concerned about getting acousted?I am sure Hdg PD cannot reveal there suspicions or give out info that may harm the case..However... At least give the TAX PAYING CITIZENS some sort of piece of mind...mayb more presence.....or foot patrol officers...Just a thought:)

Yeah, I'd like to know more about how it was 'isolated' as well. They can atleast share and SHOULD share if it is regarding drugs or domestic or whatever. It is important for the residents of Havre de Grace to know what the problems are in order to work towards fixing them and preventing them. The police can't run a city alone, they need the community to be involved, not sheltered, to achieve maximum results.

Look... Havre de Grace is like any oher place. it is not a place to be worried about going out. Things like this happen anywhere and if it happened less thatn 24hrs ago they cant release all the details that fast. Yes its the 2nd stabing in the l ast week but two different places and not releated. Once we learn of more details then people can start tryiNg to work around things. TIME AND PATIENTS TO FIND OUT REASONS ARE IMPORTANT TO MAKE THE RIGHT ACCUSATIONS!

If you are scared to leave your house I'n Havre de Grace for fear of a random act of violence or anything along those lines you are foolish. Maybe two coincidental stabbings happend close together, but my question is when was the last incident prior to this ? It's been quite some time I am sure. Fact is people don't just go stabbing people for fun or for no reason, there had to be a motive behind both that was not just a random act of violence.

TL;DR traveled more than outside of the state of Maryland and Havre de Grace area, not very safe. Sage. All I ever hear about are gangs, drug deals and BS around here. There must be some magical bubble in Havre de Grace that I'm not seeing. Try telling that to me when there was a shooting outside of the house I'm currently living in twice last year.

if your scared than leave dont live in hiding. aberdeen, perrymen, edgewood, joppa, balt county; everywheres the same. go across the bridge and you will get the same. if you got to bel air or fallston you get the prescription drugs and young people thinking they can get away with youthing because ther have money. move to any sate you you will see all the same things unless you go somewhere isolated. some people just become closed minded and they cant be help. with negative people in a community no change will happen.

It's sad to hear of another stabbing in Havre de Grace. But this is life when things can happen and they do we all have to deal with it. People go outside of our Country or State on trips and vacations and never return due to some kind of crime that doesn't stop others from going to that same area. When they took Bible reading and prayer from our schools and other places this is the kind of stuff we can expect, more crime. The problem is some people don't have any morals. Sad! God Help Us All. Havre de Grae is a good place to live not perfect but good!

HavreDeGrace for the most part is a safe place to live and as others have said there is NO SUCH THING as a crime free city or town.I seldom hear of this type of crime in this town/city and i have lived here for 25 years.Hdg is a close knit community and when something like this happens,as you can see,it gets a huge reaction and in my opinion mostly because it is a RARE occurance. If you ever listen to the news places like Baltimore just a example, when the citizens of Baltimore are interviewed by the media after a murder or multiple violent crimes their reaction is "This kind of stuff happens all the time here"and it is usually followed by "We call the police and tell them about our intolerance and they just can"t be in five places at one time"I am happy to say I do not feel that is the issue here.Yes we are a smaller town/city but crime is crime and if the citizens feel their police force is not big enough to handle the crime rate that is SAD....As long as I have been a resident I have seen crime here dealt with and in most cases solved..I do not know the statistics on cases solved but I would venture to say we are in the good?

I do NOT buy this "isolated" incident EXCUSE! And there is a reason that this happened...drugs? a woman? retaliation? the list could go on and on......isolated to that part of town, now that is more plausible... let us not forget the brutal assault earlier this year on Girard St.....I am so glad that I don't live here anymore, and that I live in the "boonies"....Unfortunately my parents still live in town....you have to think about how many incidents go unreported as well.....this is all probably more common than you think.....but its going to be a tragedy when someone truly innocent becomes a victim of wrong place/time......

Nothings random, ever. I'm sure that the stabbings are related in some way in town. I've been a long time resident/visitor to Havre de Grace the past 35 years and they've always had fights outside of the nightclubs for as long as I can remember. It just seems now a days people are using weapons instead of their fists to equalize the threat of the drug and gang activity that is and has been present in the town the past 5 years at minimum. Every town has some kind of crime in one way or the other. I've never feared walking the streets of Grace anytime day or night and have and still do it often.
