Havre de Grace Main Street Hires Manager
Matthew Kriegl was named the manager of the volunteer-run organization.
Havre de Grace Main Street has hired its next manager.
Matthew Kriegl, a native of New Jersey, will take over as manager on March 12. He replaces Erika Quesenbery, who stepped down in December after being hired in July.
Main Street President Billee Smith said Kriegl "has a passion for Historic Preservation & Revitalization and we are so excited to have the opportunity to have him work with our organization."
She continued, "Our board is very excited about what Matt brings to our organization."
Kriegl, who has degrees in geography and anthropology from SUNY Plattsburg (NY), graduated from Ball State University with a Master of Science in historic preservation in 2011.
According to a statement from Smith, "Matt has a strong interest in downtown revitalization and believes that it is one of the most stable, effective and tangible ways to save and retain historic downtowns and local identities. He also believes strongly that historic preservation should be community-oriented and a community-wide goal. He looks forward to meeting and working with the people, businesses, and visitors who live, work, and enjoy Havre de Grace."
Among the projects Kriegl will begin organizing: First Fridays, farmer's markets, history tours, Graw Days and the 100th Anniversary of The Graw.
