Havre de Grace Crime: Bad Cat Food, Bomboy's Break-In

The following information was supplied by the Havre de Grace Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Franklin Street, 600 block, 12:32 p.m. on Feb. 22. A woman reported being harassed by telephone by her estranged husband. She was referred to the Harford County Court Commissioner’s Office.

Pulaski  Highway, 1000 block, 11:31 a.m. on Feb. 22. Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the BP gas station and found the suspect in the 900 block of Pulaski Highway. Officers determined no items were taken without payment.

Franklin Street, 400 block, 8:46 a.m. on Feb. 22. A physical altercation took place between father and son. Both were referred to Harford County Court Commissioner’s Office.

Market Street, 300 block, 1:03 a.m. on Feb. 22. Gavin James Boyd, 22, of the 600 block of South Washington Street, and Jeffrey David Curran, 21, of the 600 block of Church Hill Road in Bel Air, were arrested and charged with  burglary and malicious destruction of property.

The men were arrested after an alleged attempted break-in at Bomboy’s Home Made Candy. Officers responded to an alarm at the store. Police met with the victim who described both men. After searching the area, officers found one man near Pink Lane and Revolution Street, and the other in the 600 block of South Washington Street. Nothing was missing from the business, but a window valued at $1,200 was broken.

Lewis Street, 600 block, 12:55 p.m. on Feb. 21. A woman reported that she was concerned that cat food she gave to her pet was tainted with rat poison. Officers couldn't determine whether or not the cat food was tainted. 

Vandiver Court, 100 block, 8:40 p.m. on Feb. 21. An individual threw a dresser draw, striking a roommate. Officers observed no physical injuries and referred the victim to the Harford County Court Commissioner’s Office. Officers also provided an escort for the victim to obtain the remainder of their belongings.

Ontario Street, 700 block, 4:16 p.m. on Feb. 21. A rented television and a television stand were reported missing. The suspect entered through an open window. The investigation is ongoing.

Lewis Lane and Grace Manor Drive, 4:08 p.m. on Feb. 19. The right-front tire was flattened and the front fender was dented on a vehicle. Police have no suspects.

Old Post Road, 1300 block, 2:58 p.m. on Feb. 19. Roger Lee McKinney, 53, of the unit block of Concord Place was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Pulaski Highway, 1000 block, 1:57 p.m. on Feb. 19. A Rite Aid employee stopped a shoplifting before it occurred. A manager noted an individual acting suspicious inside the store, and approached the person, who fled. Police responded and searched the area but were unable to locate the subject. Packaging for an MP3 player that the suspect was holding inside the store had been tampered with.

Village Drive, 400 block, 10:40 a.m. on Feb. 19. A laptop computer and cash, a total loss of more than $1,000, was reported stolen at knife-point. The victim reported an ex-boyfriend entered her residence with a knife and demanded money. The investigation is ongoing.

Battery Drive, 400 block, 9:25 p.m. on Feb. 18. A husband and wife got into a verbal argument. The couple was referred to the Harford County Court Commissioner’s Office.

Revolution Street, 1100 block, 9:18 p.m. on Feb. 18. A 14-year-old girl, who resides in the 800 block of Giles Street, was arrested and charged with allegedly assaulted her mother.

The night before, police responded to the same block for a report of an argument between the girl and her mother. Police found the girl had locked herself in a bathroom. Officers talked her out of the bathroom before departing. Following the alleged assault, the girl was transported to the Havre de Grace police station, where she was reported to the juvenile justice system.

Vince Way and Route 155, 11:41 p.m. on Feb. 17. Timothy John Grose, 35, of the 1000 block of Morrison Boulevard was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Ohio Street, 800 block, 1:51 p.m. on Feb. 17. Robert Leroy Dill, 36, of the 1100 block of Leslie Road was arrested and charged with strong-armed robbery, assault and vandalism. A victim reported that someone attempted to break into a home. Officers found a door had been kicked in and a male victim had been assaulted, and robbed of a cell phone and currency. After receiving a description of the suspect, officers found Dill moments later.

Rock Glenn Boulevard, 2000 block, 10:07 a.m. on Feb. 17. John Fitzgerald Zeller, 47, of the 300 block of Commerce Street, was arrested on a warrant.

Congress Avenue, 700 block, 9:36 a.m. on Feb. 17. A Samsung Galaxy cell phone, valued at $500, was reported stolen from Havre de Grace High School. Police have no suspects.

Lafayette Street, 800 block, 4:06 a.m. on Feb. 17. Demauseaous Sian Coleman, 29, of the 1000 block of Lakefront Drive in Edgewood was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and driving with a revoked or suspended license. Police initially responded to a physical altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend, but didn’t find the male on the scene. Police located the vehicle and identified Coleman during a traffic stop.

Ohio Street, 800 block, 10:59 p.m. on Feb. 16. A door was kicked in at a residence, but nothing was taken. There were no signs that anyone had been inside the home. There are no suspects and the incident remains under investigation.

Tidewater Drive, 400 block, 7 p.m. on Feb. 16. An iPod Nano valued at $120 was stolen from a vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry.
