PHOTOS: Havre de Grace Community Garden
The city's first community garden is located on Market Street.
Been wondering about the burst of green that recently sprouted on the vacant lot next to the old Save-A-Lot on Market Street? It's a community garden managed by a group of Havre de Grace volunteers who call themselves the "Green Team."
Check out the photos with this post, provided by Havre de Grace photographer Ed Rybczynski.

These are wonderful, Ed! Thanks for so many shots of my plants and decorations. I've already harvested a zucchini, a cucumber, and jalapeno, and I pick my first tomato today! The Community Garden is the best project ever, and we are so grateful to the City for donating a mound of mulch, and especially to the Susquehanna Fire Company for filling large barrels with water for us to use. They have been so wonderful in delivering the water often and quickly. Thanks, SHCO!!

Thank you, Wendy! It always amazes me when a project comes together the way the community garden has. It's so great to contribute along with so many cool people.

Ed, Beautiful photos! Nice work all you gardeners!!! I want to thank Carol Zimmerman for spear heading this Community Garden effort!!! This is the first public action taken by the HdG Green Team and we are very proud of the efforts! We hope to "grow" more gardens thruout the city, and plan to pursue other green actions as well! I have found that growing and eating my own food can be one of life's greatest pleasures!!!!
