Harris Endorses Jacobs' Congressional Run
Harford County Republican faces five-way primary.
Nancy Jacobs picked up the endorsement of a former state Senate colleague Monday.
Freshman Rep. Andy Harris, a Cockeysville Republican, announced the endorsement in a statement released by Jacobs' congressional campaign.
“I trust Nancy Jacobs," Harris said in the statement. "That’s why I have endorsed Nancy Jacobs for Congress. I need Nancy to help me fight the tax and spend liberals in Congress.”
The endorsement was not a surprise.
Jacobs announced her candidacy last month. Harris introduced Jacobs at the event and told a reporter later that his presence was meant to be seen as an endorsement.
Jacobs faces a five-way primary, which includes notable candidates Del. Rick Impallaria and Larry Smith, a Timonium resident and a former aide to Harris.
The winner of the primary will move on to challenge Democratic Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, a five-term incumbent and former Baltimore County Executive.

Yes, Congressman Harris, because no conservative ever voted to raise taxes or the debt ceiling...

shhhh, don't wake up the spend and spend Teapublicans. The party of taxspending think they are fiscal conservatives. Their idol St. Raygun raised taxes 11 times and raised the national debt by 197% !!!!

I am supporting Larry Smith, among other reasons, because he is running on issues, not endorsements. I have yet to read or see anything from Nancy's campaign that did not involve some retreaded endoresement. Mr. Smith is the only candidate in this race that has plans.

Likewise, I am supporting Larry Smith as well for the exact same reasons. Larry is also head and shoulders above Dutch Ruppersberger due to his military intelligence background.

But the problem is, we don't trust Congressman Harris.

Everyone should support Larry Smith. Larry is not running on politician endorsements, Larry is running on ideas. If Jacobs does not want to debate then she must not have any fresh ideas to take with her to Washington. Vote for Larry Smith. He is the type of candidate that has a plan and ideas. He will be saying it is time to dig in and start fixing this economy when he arrives in D.C. Jacobs is the kind of candidate that would say what's next if she were to go to Washington. Check out Larry's page at larrysmith4congress.com.

She will run. She will lose. Then we can get her out of Maryland politics for good. She thinks the state Senate she holds now belongs to her. It belongs to the people, and it's time for her to go. She has been a totally useless bump for years.
I just finished reading Larry's page. As an Independent, I would like to know more about his stance on social issues. While he isn't pro-choice, he is not anti-abortion in cases of rape, incest or danger to the mother. I can appreciate that stance. But where does he stand on other issues? I am a social liberal (people's lives are not for the Government to run or make laws about) and a staunch fiscal conservative (we have run rough-shod over any type of monetery discipline in this state and country and we need to fix it NOW!). It leaves people like me out in the cold when we have a GOP that is wrapped in the Bible and instead of the American Flag and Democrats who so easily to flip on their back for a belly rub that they don't how to stand up for what they believe in.
I can say that I was impressed with one line on LArry's page: "District Two needs to have a sensible Republican in the room with Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, and John Boehner, et al, when the legislation is being crafted, so he can step up whenever necessary, put his arm around one of them and say, 'Hey, why don't we try it this way instead'." He seems to know already there are wingnuts in charge in DC...

And, in a nutshell, I support policies that facilitate life’s responsible creation and lower the rate of abortion. Thanks.

Oh! Just what we need another radical Teapublican in Congress. Their approval rating standing at around 10%, can it get any lower? Harris and crew ordered the handcuffing of a journalist at the congressional hearing on fracking. They sure don't mind taking everyone else's freedoms and rights away. Why so afraid of the 1st Amendment Andy?

I am a long time Republican, and I've had enough of the tired "let's fight the tax and spend liberals" mantra. How about some independent, thoughtful plans on how to cooperate and become a real Congress? Look where the mindless "fighting the other side" has got us, which is true for both parties. We don't have too much or too little government; what we have is a complete train wreck of any semblance of effective government. When we hear today that gas prices are going up and that we are EXPORTING oil, while big business is closing refineries to keep prices up, is that what Republicans are for? Come on, save our party before it is too late!

Nancy Jacobs has voted for the Democrats budget for at least the past five years and she voted for the BGE deregulation.
She consistently takes the path of least resistance and we cannot rely upon her to cut spending at the federal level when she hasn’t done it at the state level.
A vote for Nancy Jacobs is vote for higher taxes and more ineffective government. We need a better than Nancy has to offer. She is reliably a Liberal Rhino.

Yes and Martin O'Malley is a conservative DINO!
If it's posted in the anonymous comments on the internet, it must be true! I mean if folks believe this nonsense then I would like $100 to make their lives happy by the act of them giving me money.
Of course the truth is that Larry Smith was once on the moon, he beat Armstrong! (If folks are truly gullible, this is meant in jest. Larry Smith clearly is no astronaut.)

Where are your supporting documents showing Nancy voting for O'Malley's budgets? Seriously -- if you're going to put "info" out there then put some time into documentation.

If the election were held on the ability of a campaign staffer and a candidate to respond to stories with a sleu of misleading innuendo online then Lawerence Smith would win. About the last thing voters want is someone running out spewing inaccurate venemous crap about his or her opponents. In the race to the bottom, no one wins but Dutch.

I so agree with this statement Brad. It seems that Larry and his crew have become non-stop Patch commentators. The negativity and lack of documentation is a huge turn off.

This primary contest reminds me of squealing pigs at the feeding trough fighting for the day they become hogs trucked to slaughter.
Ideas? It takes financial resources alone to purchase a seat at the table. So who can tap the republican national cash flow?

The only negative commentary seems to seep from those that dislike the TEA Partiers. Anyway, bottom line is LTC. Smith was a small business owner, has a wide variety of life experience, is a musician, sort of a Renaissance Man. Based on all this accrued knowledge and experience, Larry Smith is more than qualified to hold elected federal office. Ms. Jacobs is a professional politician. Seeking the 2nd district congressional seat is merely another rung on her ladder of bureaucratic continuity. I have news for those of us that tend towards more moderate ideology, LTC Smith is your man. My point is Larry is not defined by any one group or any one thought process. He is a thinker and a doer and will make judgements, create legislation, and vote on laws that are in sync with the residents of the 2nd congressional district. I heard Ms. Jacobs on the radio the other day. Do you know what she said, what ideas she espoused, what her vision of the 2nd district is and what direction she would lead? Nothing, nada, nowhere. LTC is a leader and a fresh face with new, genuine, workable ideas for the 2nd district. He has put all he stands for on the table. We need a candidate who can beat the incumbent. Larry Smith is that person, larrysmith4congress.com

More time to sleep for nan! Maybe if she gets all the teabaggers to vote for her she can run in the general and get stomped and go back to dozing in the state senate! Or maybe larry pulls it out for the "moderate reps" and makes a race of it before taking another beatdown by Dutch! Now if the folks on the shore wake up and see the steamin heap ol andys trying shovel we would all be in better shape! Good luck ltc,you are gonna need it.

One last thing---I was not present at the debate, but I did not need to be to know that Nancy offers absolutely no solutions to any of the issues that we face. Her website is exactly how she really speaks and operates; talking points and zero "know how"
