Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Harford County
Trees get turned into something else after the holidays.
Harford County provides two places for residents to take their old Christmas trees.
Rather than throwing them out with the trash, citizens can drop off their trees in Street or Bel Air for recycling.
From there, the trees will be ground into a mulch product that the county gives away or sells in the spring, according to Bob Ernst, recycling program manager for Harford County.
Since the tree recycling program's inception in 1989, residents have dropped off more than 90,000 trees, which saves landfill space, the county reports.
There are two locations for dropping off Christmas trees:
- Harford Waste Disposal Center Yard Trim Facility at 3135 Scarboro Road in Street; 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
- Tollgate Yard Trim Drop-Off at 703 Tollgate Road near Bel Air; 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays.
