AGENDA: Harford School Board to Discuss Fiscal Cliff
The Harford County Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19.
After delaying a vote on the future plans for Havre de Grace High School at its last meeting, the Board of Education has not indicated whether it will be making its decision Monday.
It will, however, be voting to adopt a legislative platform heading into 2013, and one position statement on the list is that "construction funding be increased, including special funding for aging schools..."
According to the legislative platform proposal, the school board has already requested state funding for planning Havre de Grace High School's future.
The legislative report cautions that budget requests come at a time when potential federal budget cuts are on the horizon, and the "fiscal cliff" may "throw the state's plans into reverse" as far as funding goes.
