Harford Cooling Centers Open Through Saturday

Harford County Public Libraries will serve as cooling centers this week, including the Darlington branch, which will offer extended hours.

Harford County is offering public libarary branches as places to beat the heat, in response to the heat wave that is expected to continue into the weekend.

On Tuesday, all Harford County Public Library branch locations will be open to the public from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. as places to temporarily escape the heat.

The library branches will also be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

“Our libraries are a great place to visit anytime, but especially now during this period of oppressive heat,” County Executive David Craig, said in a release.

The Harford County Health Department recommends those at high risk stay inside extremely hot and humid days, especially when there is an air pollution alert in effect.

People without fans or air conditions can go to places such as shopping malls, movie theaters or cooling centers for relief, according to the county release.
