Flooding Possible in Havre de Grace Wednesday

The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory Jan. 30.

Low-lying waterfront properties in Havre de Grace may experience flooding late Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The NWS issued a coastal flood advisory, effective 4 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday, with Havre de Grace among the vulnerable areas.

Havre de Grace may be particularly prone to flooding during high tide, which the NWS said would take place at 11:46 a.m. and 11:51 p.m. Wednesday; tides may be 2 feet above average.

There's a 100 percent chance of heavy rain in Havre de Grace Wednesday night, the NWS said, as a cold front moves through the area; on the heels of Wednesday's high of 65 degrees, the weather service said that evening temperatures may fall to 39 degrees, and Harford County could see snow showers Thursday night and Friday morning.

A small craft advisory and gale warning are also in effect through Thursday, meaning small boats should stay off the Chesapeake Bay as winds will be from 39 to 54 mph.
