Del. Glen Glass has been appointed to the House Judiciary Committee, he announced Thursday afternoon.

Glass, a Republican representing parts of Harford and Cecil counties, was a member of the Ways and Means Committee since being elected in 2010.

"I am honored to have been chosen to serve in this position," Glass said in a statement. "The House Judiciary Committee will certainly be at the forefront of some of the most significant issues facing Maryland and District 34A, including protecting Constitutional freedoms such as protecting the Second Amendment and civil liberties, oversight of the Departments of Justice, legal and regulatory reform, innovation, competition and anti-trust laws, terrorism and crime, immigration reform, death penalty and pit bull legislation. It is likely that many of these issues will be the deciding factors in determining the future direction of our state."

Glass continued, saying: "I will play a key role in promoting common sense solutions to help people get back to work, lighten the regulatory and tax burden on small businesses, and limit wasteful government spending."

The statement noted that Glass would continue to serve as a member of the Veterans Caucus.

In a separate email to constituents Thursday, Glass announced that he would be canceling a town hall scheduled for Saturday at the Abingdon branch of the Harford County Public Library.

Glass wrote: "The other legislators are unable to be there as well and I will reschedule a time when we can all be there to answer your questions and concerns."
