Harford Executive Endorses Mitt Romney

Harford County Executive David Craig has said he plans to run for office in 2014, although he has not specified which office he will seek.

Harford County Executive David Craig announced Tuesday his endorsement of Republican Mitt Romney in his bid to become the next GOP candidate for President.

Craig's announcement comes just days before early voting begins in the Maryland primary.

In a release, Craig, a Republican, explained that he supports Romney because he believes Romney is the candidate most likely to beat President Barack Obama in the November general election. He added that Romney also has the leadership skills and experience to be President.

"If, like me, you hope to see America right its course this November, then I ask you, I urge you to join me in supporting Mitt Romney for President of the United States of America," Craig said in the release.

See Craig's full statement here.

In August, Craig confirmed his plans to run for office in 2014. Although Craig has not announced which office he plans to pursue, he has mentioned governor and comptroller as possibilities.

Pieces in The Baltimore Sun and Gazette.net as well as an editorial in The Record take close looks at the possibility that Craig will run for governor in an election where Marylanders will seek a new leader for the state.

Incumbent Gov. Martin O'Malley is barred by state law from seeking a third term in office.

Craig will not run for county executive again based on term-limits.

Do you work for Harford County Government? The school system or sheriff's office per chance?

So keep your vote for obama! He really has done a fantastic job in his 3 years. Good thing is my beloved Harford County is overwhelmingly republican.

Can you imagine Craig as Comptroller? What a frightening thought, as he is a reckless spendthrift during such draconian economic times. When the recession first hit and surrounding jurisdictions were tightening their belts, he was doling out significant raises. It is interesting that the focus of these raises was on his main voter base. When there was suddenly a "surplus" last year, instead of returning a portion to all those who had overpaid their taxes and providing some relief to "us commoners," he gave bonuses out. Sounds like buying votes, if you ask me and they don't come cheap these days. I can't wait to hear what his fiscal and monetary policies will be for the state if folks are crazy enough to elect this jerk.
