City Water Plant Will Shut Down Overnight

Havre de Grace residents may experience low water pressure into Wednesday morning.

Havre de Grace residents may experience low water pressure overnight into Wednesday as the city shuts down the water plant for repairs.

The city had a similar shutdown last week, but without as advance notice to residents.

The shutdown will occur around 11 p.m.

In an automated call around 7:30 p.m., the city said: "Provided there are no unforeseen occurences, the plant will be back in service by 3 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1."

There may be little to no water pressure, the city said.

Overnight emergencies may be directed to Havre de Grace police at 410-939-2121. During daytime hours—from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.—issues may be directed to City Hall at 410-939-1800.

Director of Public Works Larry Parks told Patch last week that an original valve at the plant required replacing. A replacement part failed in an overnight repair last week, forcing the morning shutdown at the plant.

Parks explained the city would approach the valve replacement about a week later, after a new part was manufactured and the city had restocked its reserve water supply.

Of course, I didn't see this until after I got my shower at 4am. Gotta love advance notice... How many more?
