Candlelight Tour Needs a Clear Forecast

The City Council president, who volunteers to put out candles every second Sunday in December, is looking for a rain-free afternoon, as Havre de Grace hosts the 39th Annual Candlelight Tour of Homes.
The event will take place from 4-8 p.m. Sunday—weather pending.
Martin helps organize the placement of about a thousand bags with candles, specifically along Union Avenue.
"It looks like a runway," Martin said of the view down Union Avenue for the tour. "Hopefully we won’t have any rain this year, we’ve been rained out for two years."
Four nearly 40 years, the tour has included some of the historic and distinct homes, as well as churches and bed and breakfasts. The residences and businesses on the tour will be open to the public.
Tickets for the tour are available for a donation of $15, and are available online or at the following locations:

- Java By the Bay
- Jana's Java
- Havre de Grace Decoy Museum
- Havre de Grace Maritime Museum
- Par Excellence Day Spa
- Johnson Family Pharmacy in Aberdeen
- Recreation and Leisure Travel Office at Aberdeen Proving Ground
- Preston's Stationery in Bel Air
Tickets purchased in bulk via the Lock House Museum website will be discounted. All proceeds benefit the Lock House Museum.
Refreshments will be served at La Banque de Fleuve from 4-9 p.m.
The tour is coupled with the Christmas Boutique at the Lock House Museum. Hosted by The Lock House Ladies, the boutique offers unique crafts and gifts. It will be open at the Lock House Museum from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Just to be clear - the Boutique and the Candlelight Tour are held rain, snow, or shine. While placement of the luminaries has been rained out the last two years, the present forecast says the chance of rain for Sunday is 0 percent. Hope everyone can come out and support this annual HdG tradition!

Our 'home' will be on the tour.... kind of. Since we live on our sailboat we are, once again this year, going to do the 'one boat lighted sail-boat parade'. We'll cruise from the amtrak bridge to the lighthouse and then anchor off the lighthouse for a while (weather permitting). Two years ago, judging by the number of flashes, it was a photo op for a lot of folks. Of course, if more lit-up sailboats come out, it could be a more than one boat lighted boat parade :-)

So from what you are saying here, you will have your sailboat, moored, right off shore from the lighthouse. So if I were to venture down Lafayette St. to the Concord Point lighthouse, I would be able to gaze upon your lovely sailboat lit up with some type of Christmas or holiday lighting? Well that sounds like an awesome photo op to me. Hope your boat arrives before I do.
