The first listed reference surely illustrates the never ending attempts by media, nearly all media to misinform and rephrase reality to their liking. Anyone with any sense of honesty will report the reasons for Maryland's continuing democrat rule are not as a result of an across the board progressive electorate, but rather a 3 county population concentration; two of which are largely comprised of federal employees who of course agree with all things government and the third of losers looking for the promise of continuing handouts. All personally benefit from the assured growth of government and of course the associated benefits of redistributing wealth to the detriment of the rest of us...they don't care. I actually sort of apologize for accusing the one county of being comprised of losers because in reality if you're too stupid and ill-educated to understand consequence vs. fully understand but just want yours it makes it much, much worse. My apologies then to residents of Baltimore City - it's really Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties that are full of losers. Without these 3 counties, this state wouldn't be blue at all.

Oh Bullcrap Karl.
The MDGOP is just a bunch of Nutjobs, Rednecks and Conspiracy Theorists. They can't field a decent candidate and thats why they are insignificant.

It doesn't matter who they field. The only reason Ehrlich was ever governor of this state was because the democrats in the state had become so arrogant and sure of themselves they thought they could run Mickey Mouse and win - and along came that ignorant Kennedy woman; apparently less qualfied and charismatic than Mickey. The politics of the entire state are being driven largely by 3 counties; all of which are highly vested in big government. There was a time when the federal government was half the size that it currently is that Maryland had a much more balanced body politic. Up and until that happens again - that is the unwinding of our federal employee or tax teat sucking do-nothings stranglehold either by choice or by force this state will remain run by liberal theives and there will be nothing we; the taxpayers can do other than move away. You really are very, very myopic and self-deluded if you can't see that.

Except that we don't vote by county. We vote by headcount. Garrett County has 30,000 people in it which is equal to 1/60 of the combined population of Montgomery and Prince Georges County. Your point?
Karl Schuub
12:23 pm on Wednesday, December 26, 2012
So you then agree that a small number of counties with a very narrow focus do indeed run the politics of the state. That is exactly what you're saying. That's exactly as I said. I'm fully aware of the concentration of populations and where those populations are largely employed or in the case of Baltimore City, not employed by having funds redistributed to their benefit.

Karl, you are hung up on the "number" of counties. That does not matter. It is the number of people that matter. What are you missing. There are only 30,000 people in Garrett County. You think they should get an equal vote?

If the dems are so clean wanna explain the last redistricting map? You know the one that was redrawn targeting 1 congressperson. You think the people that live in that district appreciate having urban populations thrown in miles and miles and far, far away for the sole purpose of removing thier right to representation? That's clean to you? How about Sheila Dixon whoring around for animal furs or stealing gift cards meant for poor children? How about the "friends of O"Malley" who've benefitted from state to private real estate sales on the cheap? I could make you a very long list but it won't matter to you - be sort of like spending another 5 minutes of time on you that I'll never get back.

12:33 pm on Wednesday, December 26, 2012
Rope a dope won't work. Care to comment on the redistricting that targeted a single congressperson or the whore monger who ran Baltimore City and was openly corrupt for decades, not to mention a close confidant of O'Malley who came out of that same arena or the number of real estate transactions that have taken place between the state and developers? Are all those things OK with you?

So you don't like redistricting in Maryland Karl but I bet you don't mind it in the rest of the country? The House Democrats received more total votes than the House Republicans but have a significant minority in the house? What caused that Karl?

Another expected dodge. So FIFA thinks anything goes...no such thing as right or wrong it's who wins that matters and using any means necessary. And to Steve/FIFA no I don't think any of those things are right.

Actually Karl it is more complicated than "anything goes". I simply don't like cherrypicking. Where you wish to fix a problem that affects you but don't care about other places. Another prime example right now is in Pennsylvania where the Republican controlled legislature wants to change how electoral votes are allocated in the state all because the state votes democratic in presidential elections. They wish to allocate electoral votes by the gerrymandered districts they have created. What a brilliant way to help steal an election. The electoral college needs to go away and a straight majority replace it.
While I am on a roll, I can't stand the US Senate, it is dysfunctional. A tiny (population wise) state like Alaska gets two senators and so does California. All with the power to initiate a hold on legislation through filibusters.

The reason the Democrats won more House votes nationwide but have fewer seats is because they run up huge margins in inner city seats and in blue states like this one where people would vote for a cockroach if he had a D next to his name. MD's gerrymandering is about the most absurd map I have seen in any state.

Considering that the list you consult for your empirical data ranks every Republican "ahead" of every Democrat on the "conservative" -->"liberal" continuum, I think we can agree that for YOUR purposes all we need to do is designate party affiliation and you will know all you need to know. Just say it, Chris W.
I'll be honest. When I read http://bit.ly/VbUcUm , the Republican Party platform, I have to remind myself that this was a losing hand and not possible in this day and age. I wish that you could live in that America while I could continue to live in this one. I think you deserve it.
