One coast's trash is another coast's treasure.
Two artists are making unique wares out of commercial fishing nets reeled in from the shores of the Pacific Northwest.
From 7 to 9 p.m., the artists will feature the "up-cycled" nets, which have been turned into a variety of jewlery, including earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
Another bonus to the environment: 20 percent of sales Friday will benefit The Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
"We'll also be promoting our benefit for The Martha Lewis to be held at Arts by The Bay on July 6 by raffling off a piece of this jewelry," Ranken told Patch in an email. "All monies collected in the sale of the raffle tickets will be donated to The Martha Lewis."
