Artist Shawn Forton Begins Public Mural Project
The Havre de Grace artist is painting a concrete wall along a railroad in Havre de Grace.
Some people take off a week in the summer to vacation at the beach.
Shawn Forton took off the entire month of July to create a civic masterpiece.
The Havre de Grace native—with the help of the city, the Susquehanna Hose Company and the approval from Amtrak—is painting a concrete wall along the train tracks behind the the Hose Company's House No. 1 on Juniata Street.
The mural is visible from Warren Street.
Forton, whose profile as an artist has grown with his portraits of professional athletes, has been updating his progress on Facebook.
He started the work last week, prepping the wall and putting on some of the landmarks that will define the mural.
TELL US: Have you seen the wall? Are there other walls in town that should get a mural treatment? Leave a comment.
