Harford Community College Student Receives Scholarship
The Northeastern Maryland Technology Council (NMTC) has awarded Harford Community College student Victoria Vasquez the C. Warren Mullins NMTC Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Scholarship. Vasquez, a Computer Information Systems major, is in her freshman year at Harford and will receive $1000 for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Warren Mullins, former vice president of Battelle, was president of the NMTC from 1998 to 2009 and has been a guiding force in the local technology community. Throughout his career, he strongly advocated for STEM education as the key component in strengthening our nation in the global marketplace. In Mullin’s honor, NMTC has funded a $1000 annual scholarship to reward high school students pursuing a college STEM education. Vasquez is also home schooled and will graduate in spring 2013.
The NMTC connects the most successful technology companies in the world, hundreds of energetic growing enterprises, government and academic leaders into a collective force to accelerate economic growth, and works to expand the STEM educated workforce in Maryland.
